The Indianapolis Indians (26-19) fell in a rout to Triple-A Columbus 15-9. Adam Rosales went 4-for-5 with four runs and two RBI. Trayce Thompson (1-for-5) homered and Eric Stamets (2for-4) hit a grand slam. He had two runs and four RBI. Asher Wojciechowski (4-1) earned the win. He pitched six innings, gave up six hits, six runs, walked one and struck out nine. Daniel Johnson was called up from Double-A Akron and went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI with a double.
With the game at 6-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Double-A Akron was able to push across one run when Ka’ai Tom (3-for-3) brought in Connor Marabell on a line drive. But that was all they could must as they fell, 6-3, to the Richmond Flying Squirrels (16-28). Richmond scored two in the first and second. The RubberDucks scored in the bottom of the second when Alexis Pantoja grounded out to bring in Wilson Garcia (1-for-4). They scored their second run off a solo home run by Tom in the fifth. Tom was perfect from the plate and had two RBI. Indians, Tyler Naquin will be on a rehab assignment with the RubberDucks on May 26.
Advanced Single-A Lynchburg fell to the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 9-3. Lynchburg scored once in the bottom of the fourth. Oscar Gonzalez (1-for-4) scored on a Gavin Collins (0-for-4, 1 RBI) ground out for a 6-1 score. The Hillcats scored two more in the bottom of the fifth. Steven Kwan (1-for-4) hit a single to drive in Gabriel Mejia (1-for-5) for a 7-2 score. Kwan scored on a Wilbis Santiago (1-for-3) sacrifice fly. The Woodpeckers scored two more in the eighth for a 9-3 win.
