Euclid Police Athletic League hosting basketball tournament
The Euclid Police Athletic League will host its inaugural 3-on-3 Memorial Park Blacktop Basketball Tournament on Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. at 585 E. 222nd St.
The event is co-sponsored by the city of Euclid and Euclid Public Library, and aims to unite the community and eliminate barriers between the youth, adults, and the Euclid Police Department.
Lt. Mitch Houser said many of the officers have strong ties to the families and students in the community and recognize how important it is for the department to connect with the community
more often in efforts to form better relationships.
The family-fun basketball tournament will host
20 teams: 10 adult teams (ages 18 and older), and 10 youth teams (ages 13-17) in a bracket-style elimination tournament.
The grand prize team will win a $100 gift card for each player, up to $400. Live entertainment and free giveaways will be
provided.
Registration is $15 per adult and $10 per youth, with a $5 discount for Euclid Public Library cardholders.
Players must prove Euclid residency at registration.
To register, call 216289-8114
or visit the City of Euclid Recreation Department for registration forms.
An NBA 2K Blacktop Tournament will also be held Sept. 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the library.
Children and teens can compete in a 3-on-3 virtual
basketball tournament with eight teams in each division: youth (ages 8-12) and teen (ages 1317). Winners will receive a free copy of NBA 2K20 for PlayStation.
This event is free and open to all. Players can call 216-261-5300 or register at
