Village relaunches regular newsletter
Two mailed editions per year and quarterly updates on website are planned
Fairport Harbor Village has decided to resume producing a regular newsletter for the community’s residents and businesses.
The fall/winter edition of The Fairport Beacon was posted late last month on the village’s website and mailed to all homes and commercial establishments in the community.
“While the village has had newsletters in the past, it became a little more intermittent during
the last few years, with the last issue going out in the fall of 2015,” said Village Administrator Amy Cossick. “We are excited to be able to bring The Fairport Beacon newsletter back,
and it will be a regular communication piece going forward.”
The 2019 fall/winter edition features an article by Mayor Timothy Manross highlighting new and established businesses in the community, along with recent accomplishments in village government.
Cossick contributed an
administrator’s report in which she reflected on some of the seasonal events held throughout the village this year.
Rounding out the newsletter are safety tips from the village Police and Fire departments; a reminder of village laws on snow removal and parking regulations during snow emergencies; and a directory listing the names of the mayor and council members, along with their telephone numbers.
Fairport Harbor residents and businesses will receive fall/winter and spring/summer editions of the newsletter in the mail.
“However, we would like to supplement that with quarterly updates that will be available on the website,” Cossick said.
There’s also a story behind the name of the village’s newsletter.
In fact, the last time the village put out a newsletter, the name of the publication was changed to The Fairport Beacon, paying tribute to The Fairport Beacon newspaper that was published in the community from 1935 to 1960, Cossick explained.
This newest version of The Fairport Beacon offers “one more way to keep our residents and businesses informed on what is happening in the village,” she said.
