An election result has produced a cause and effect within Morley Library’s Board of Trustees months later.

A November election result has produced a cause and effect within Morley Library’s Board of Trustees months later.

Paul Malchesky defeated James O’Leary in November to fill an unexpired term on the Painesville Municipal Court bench.

It is a term that does not expire until Dec. 31, 2023.

Because of this new role, Malchesky stepped down from his seat on Morley’s board, a seat that he had filled since 2013. In his place, Lake County commissioners appointed Stanley Gorom III to take over and his term will run through March 2026.

Gorom has a background in law. He is the CEO and managing partner at Hahn Loeser and Parks LLP, and was an advisory board member for the Chicago Title Insurance Company.

A news release issued by the Morley Library cited Gorom’s reputation of community involvement, including his position as a board member of the Cleveland Restoration Society, Catholic Charities, and Vocational Guidance Services.

“I started my legal practice in Painesville and welcome the opportunity to give back to that community,” Gorom said of his new appointment.

“Additionally, I have a life-long love of books and reading. Keeping public assets like the Morley Library healthy and growing is critical for the broader community health.

“I am honored to join the Board of Trustees of such a storied Lake County institution and to support its important work and mission,” he added.
