Fitworks announces last day

Feb. 29 marks the end of gym’s operation; new location sought

Willoughby’s Fitworks has announced that its last day of operation will be Feb. 29.

Fitworks President Pat Petrecca shared the news in a letter to members and said Fitworks is still looking for another location in the area.

“We thank you for your support of the Willoughby location over the years and we are confident you will be very pleased with the services that Fitworks provides at the other Cleveland urea locations,” Petrecca said in the letter.

He said the facility has been in search of a new location since before hearing the news that a Marc’s Grocery Store would move into the location, but that the timing of the notice has intensified their search.

“We want you to know that we remain committed to our search for a new location in the Willoughby area. Nonetheless, we will be closing our existing location before a new location is secured,” Petrecca said.

In the letter he said Fitworks is considering building size, parking and economics in their search for a new facility and that they do not want to rush into a location that isn’t a good fit.

“What you may not know is that we were considering options for our Willoughby location that included finding a new site in Willoughby prior to receiving the

Marc’s notification,” Petrecca said. “However, the timing of the notice took us by surprise and has escalated our search for a new location.”

So what does this mean for existing members?

“In order to help you continue your workout program without interruption, and in accordance with our membership agreement, your Fitworks gym and personal training memberships will be made available for use at another Fitworks location of your choosing,” Petrecca said.

The Mentor Fitworks at 9170 Mentor Ave. and Highland Heights Fitworks at 5612 Wilson Mills Road are the two closest locations to Willoughby.

Petrecca said those who are still in their term agreement period will still have their membership honored unless they choose to cancel.

“If you choose to cancel you Fitworks membership in accordance with the terms of the agreement, please complete a Cancellation

Request Form at the Willoughby Location prior to Feb. 29, 2020 or at any other Fitworks location,” he said.
