Timothy Cahill named interim executive director of Port Authority

The Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority has announced the appointment of Timothy Cahill as its interim executive director.
Cahill began his service at the Port Authority in 2015 in the dual roles of director of public finance and controller.
In the capacity of director of public finance, Cahill has assisted several projects in obtaining bond financing which allowed the organization to expand existing businesses or begin new businesses in Lake County, bringing jobs and economic growth to the region.
In the role of controller Cahill, along with the bookkeeping staff, have earned Ohio Auditor of State Awards for excellence in financial reporting for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018.
In his first full year with the Port Authority, Cahill was voted “Economic Development Rookie of the Year” by the Ohio Economic Development Association.
Cahill will be keeping his current duties while simultaneously serving as executive director until the board appoints a permanent replacement for Mark Rantala, who retired last month after serving in the position for nearly seven years.
Cahill is a native of Lake County and a graduate of Marquette University. He holds a master’s degree from Lake Erie College and brings over 25 years of commercial lending and community development experience, and a network of relationships in Lake County.
