Man gets 8 years for crimes against children
Perry Twp. man awaits second sentencing
A Perry Township man recently received the first of two sentences for crimes against children.
Anthony Coladangelo was sentenced Feb. 5 in Lake County Common Pleas Court to eight years in prison after he previously pleaded guilty to two charges of third-degree felony gross sexual imposition and one charge of fourth-degree felony disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.
He must also register as a sex offender for the next 25 years. After he is released from prison he will have five years of post-release control. He has 264 days jail credit for time served, according to court records.
Coladangelo will be sentenced March 10 in federal court. He previously pleaded guilty to charges of possession of child pornography, and receipt and distribution of visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
In April, Madison Township police assisted the FBI with a search warrant of a resident in the township and another in the
Perry area. The scope of the warrant was to collect evidence associated with the viewing and distribution of child pornography, according to police.
According to federal court documents, the FBI received information from a Geauga County Prosecutor’s Office investigator of the distribution of child pornography.
The investigator had conducted an undercover investigation on a Peer-to-Peer file-sharing website between Jan. 7 and Feb. 24 of
2019.
During that time the investigator received three files containing child pornography, according to court documents. When the FBI executed the search warrant at the Madison Township home, law enforcement officers learned that Coladangelo had recently been asked to move out of the residence, taking all his computers and hard drives with him to a home in Perry Township.
Officers gained voluntary
consent to search Coladangelo’s residence for evidence of child pornography, according to court documents.
During an interview with investigators, he allegedly admitted to downloading images and videos of child pornography since 1995. He also allegedly admitted to downloading and subsequently deleting hundreds of videos containing child pornography.
Lake County Common Pleas Court Judge Vincent A. Culotta sentenced Coladangelo in the Lake County case. Northern District of Ohio Judge Christopher A. Boyko will sentence him in the federal case.
