2 vie for Geauga County Recorder’s seat
Celesta Mullins and Kerri Lynch Quay will battle in March 17 Republican primary
Two Republican candidates will square off in the March 17 Primary Election for the opportunity to become Geauga County’s new recorder.
Celesta Mullins and Kerri Lynch Quay are competing for the right to succeed Sharon Gingerich when she retires at the end of 2020. No Democrats have filed to run in the primary.
The recorder will begin a four-year term on Jan. 4 and earn $62,090 annually.
The News-Herald mailed out questionnaires to the candidates and the following are some of the responses.

Mullins currently holds the position of Geauga County chief deputy recorder. In a News-Herald questionnaire, Mullins said her 20-plus years of working in the Recorder’s Office makes her “uniquely qualified” to take over for Gingerich.
“I am familiar with all requirements as prescribed by the Ohio Revised Code,” she said. “My prior background as a former title examiner and paralegal add to my qualifications.”
If elected, Mullins said she would continue to keep expenses down and run the office efficiently without cutting services to the residents.
“I would bring in the ability to accept credit cards as payment to make things easier on the customers,” she said.
In addition, Mullins pledged that she will continue to promote the Property Fraud Alert, Veterans ID and Good Deeds programs.
“Service to others will always be my mission,” Mullins said.
