The novel coronavirus and the measures taken to mitigate its spread have been felt across the globe as well as locally, including Wickliffe.

With children away from school and the accessibility to school lunches, Wickliffe School District will seek to ensure students have access to meals via their Family Resource Center, 2255 Rockefeller Drive. Prepackaged “graband-go” meals for students will be available from 10 a.m. until noon on weekdays.

The Family Resource Center will also be providing toiletries and hygiene products put together by the WickKloset, a Wickliffe student organized project. They will be available from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., weekdays.

Vineyard Community Church, 1928 300th St., has a food pantry which is open on Tuesdays, from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m.

W hile the Wicklif fe Community Center is closed for the foreseeable future, Lake County’s Meals on Wheels program will continue. For more information and details, contact Lake County Council on Aging at 440-373-5017 or visit www.lccoa.org.

With the city’s regular newsletter, The Wickliffe Connection, unable to run due to current limitations, Mayor John Barbish and Councilmember Joe Sakacs have both utilized social media as a way of communicating with residents and updating them on COVID-19 pertinent news.

In his Facebook address, Sakacs stated to residents directly, “If you have questions, ask me. If I don’t have the answers, I will get them.” He has asked the News Herald to share that he can be reached directly at 440-4789579 and at jsakacs@cityofwickliffe.com.

Wickliffe City Hall and offices are closed with their most recent meeting cancelled out of precautionary measures. Any important documents can be dropped off at the mailbox outside of the Recreation Department.

Sakacs has suggested residents, decorate sidewalks with chalk, draw pictures or write positive messages while isolating at home.

“Kimble is picking up yard waste so it ’s a great time to clean up the yard,” he added. “Almost ever y restaurant is open for carryout, so please try and help support them. Many local car repair shops are open and offer to pick your car up if you wish not to leave your home.”

Prepackaged “grab-andgo” meals for students will be available from 10 a.m. until noon on weekdays.
