County health district: 84-year-old Lake County man has died from coronaviru­s

A second Lake County resident has died from the novel coronaviru­s known as COVID-19.

An 84-year-old man died in a county hospital March 30, according to Lake County General Health District officials.

A 55-year-old male died March 27 at a Lake County hospital due to complicati­ons of COVID-19, according to the health district.

“It is imperative that the entire Lake County community follow social-distancing practices immediatel­y to slow the spread of COVID-19,” County Health Commission­er Ron Graham previously told The News-Herald. “It’s going to take selfless action from every

single one of us to protect our community and save lives.”

Lake County has 44 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of 2 p.m. March 31. There have been 15 total hospitaliz­ations in the county according to Ohio Department of Health data.

Statewide, there are 2,199 confirmed cases as of that same timeframe. The age range of those who have tested positive is from less than a year old to 99 years old. The median age is 53, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health. There are 55 COVID-19 deaths statewide.

The Lake County General Health District has a COVID-19 page on its website where it is adding updated informatio­n about the situation.

The Ohio Department of Health has opened a call center to answer questions about COVID-19. The call center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and can be reached at 833427-5634.
