Library to offer Online Origami Hour
Children can learn the art of paper folding during the Online Origami Hour at 6 p.m., Sept. 10, from Mentor Public Library.
The program will be hosted online via Zoom, while the library will provide the supplies.
First, children ages 8 to 12 need to register at www.mentorpl.org or by calling the Children’s Department at 440-2558811, ext. 220. Then, they can pick up their supplies from the Children’s Section at Mentor Public Library’s Main Branch the week of Aug. 31.
Finally, they can fold along, step by step, and show off their origami creations when they’re finished.
Free electronic, appliance collection set
Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District is holding a free electronics and appliance collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Geauga County Engineer’s yard at 12665 Merritt Road, Chardon, according to a news release.
Any type of electronic device such as printers, keyboards, CPUs, cell phones and TVs will be accepted from Geauga and Trumbull county residents. There is a limit of two TVs per vehicle. Freon will be removed free of charge from Freonbearing appliances. Some acceptable appliances include, but are not limited to, refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles workers will be available to unload.

Geauga Dems to host ‘Alternative Fair’
The Geauga Democratic Party will host its first “Alternative Fair” on Labor Day Weekend on the front lawn at its headquarters at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 5 and 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 6.
Attendees can register to vote, apply for an absentee ballot for the Nov. 3 General Election and meet candidates.
Food and fun are always a part of the fair. Come with your mask on and plan to social distance under the big tent.
