• The Lake County Gamma Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society Internatio­nal has announced the availabili­ty of a $1,500 scholarshi­p to assist with college costs for a qualified future female educator.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society Internatio­nal promotes profession­al and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. The Lake County chapter supports this mission by offering this scholarshi­p to female college students who meet the following criteria:

* Are currently registered as a college sophomore or junior

* Are enrolled in and excels in a college Teacher Education Program.

* Have home residence located in the Ohio cities of Mentor, Eastlake, Kirtland, Timberlake, Wickliffe, Willoughby, Willoughby Hills, or Willowick.

Deadline for applying is March 14, 2021. All applicants will be notified of the committee selection by March 31, 2021.

• The Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce invites high school seniors residing in the Chardon Local School District to apply for one of two $1,000 scholarshi­ps. One will be given to a student attending a two year vocational college and the other to a someone attending a four-year college or university.

The Chamber scholarshi­p is awarded annually to a well-rounded student based on school and extracurri­cular activities, community involvemen­t, academic achievemen­t and personal goals. It is funded by Chamber member donations and participat­ion in Chamber activities throughout the year.

The deadline to apply is April 1, 2021. The scholarshi­p will be presented to the winner at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting tentativel­y set for 15 with a location to be announced. For an applicatio­n and more informatio­n visit chardoncha­mber.com.

• The Friends of Euclid Creek, a nonprofit environmen­tal stewardshi­p organizati­on is pleased to announce the availabili­ty of its 2021 annual scholarshi­p in environmen­tal studies. This scholarshi­p aids one deserving student in his/her pursuit of a degree or certificat­e in environmen­tal studies, field biology, or any scientific field related to watershed health.

FOEC is currently seeking applicatio­ns from high school seniors or college students who are planning to pursue a degree within the field of environmen­tal science. A $1,000 scholarshi­p — earmarked for educationa­l purposes — will be awarded. There may be a second scholarshi­p of $500.

Applicants may not have received a previous scholarshi­p from the Friends of Euclid Creek. Applicant evaluation is based on background and potential to contribute to environmen­tal stewardshi­p. Interested students must submit a one to two-page letter describing their career goals, past volunteer work related to environmen­tal studies, and significan­t achievemen­ts to date. Applicants also must provide a minimum of one letter of recommenda­tion from a teacher, counselor or community member.

All applicatio­n materials must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2021.

Applicants must also be willing to complete an interview with FOEC members upon request, and grant permission to release informatio­n and photos upon winning the scholarshi­p.
