Library joins with Rabbit Run Community Arts Association
The organizations will offer online art programs, and co-host art show
Madison Public Library recently announced it is working with Rabbit Run Community Arts Association to offer online art programs for kids and to cohost the 29th Annual Juried
Art Show in April.
Rabbit Run instructor Nancy Brotz teaches two weekly art classes via Zoom from a library storytime room-turned-recording studio. The classes are accepting new elementary school students.
“We have studio space set up to accommodate our library Zoom programs for children and adults,” said Library Director Dee Culbertson said in a news release. “We love that we can share this space with Rabbit Run to keep kids involved in the arts during this weird time when groups can’t gather very easily.”
An Illustrator class held on Wednesdays explores the artistic techniques of popular children’s book illustrators such as Eric Carle with elementary school students. Cost is $40 for the eightweek session.
Meanwhile Art Club meets on Thursdays and teaches new media, methods and styles each week to elementary students. Cost is $5 per week.
Sign-ups and payment are through Rabbit Run.
“Now more than ever we are excited to partner with Madison Public Library to offer opportunities for visual artists to create and to share their talents with the community,” said Rabbit Run Executive Director Brint Learned in the release.
The 29th Annual Juried Art Show is open to all visual artists in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties including high school students. Cash prizes are awarded for Best of Show for adult and student entries.
“This will be the first time since the art show opened that we will be able to offer a virtual component to the show,” said Rabbit Run Marketing Director Karen Ziegler in the release. “This gives the artists involved a lot more coverage than previously available.”
The show opens March 31 and runs through April 28. Each artist can submit up to three works in any twodimensional medium, and small three-dimensional works can be submitted. The art show will be on display in the library.
Applications are available at Rabbit Run, local libraries and online at www.rabbitrun.org. Applications will be accepted at the Rabbit Run office at 49 Park St. in Madison. The nonrefundable entry fee is $25 for adults and $7 for students.
Madison Public Library is at 6111 Middle Ridge Road in Madison Township.
