Geauga groups hosting ‘Composting 101’
The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District, Geauga West Library, Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District, and the Geauga County Master Gardeners invite the public to “Composting 101: Take the Leap and Start Your Heap!”
The free online program will take place at 6 p.m., March 16, and participants can learn composting basics and benefits, different composting methods, and how to avoid common composting problems.
Composting is an easy, economic, and essential practice that everyone can do to convert organic waste from yards and kitchens into nutrient-rich soil, according to a news release.
All are welcome and participants will have the chance to win a compost bin donated by the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District. Thanks to additional financial assistance from the Geauga County Master Gardeners Scholarship program, Geauga County residents will also be eligible to receive a free kitchen compost pail.
Registration is required by visiting https:// geaugalibrary.libcal.com/ event/7190072. Those with questions can contact Gail Prunty at gprunty@geaugaswcd.com or 440-8341122.
This event is part of the “2021 Clean Water Starts at Home Stormwater, Phase 2, and You!” education series.
