For the record: The host Cougars will be the favorite for the team title here, but don’t be surprised if Chardon makes a push toward that title. The Hilltoppers and Cougars are joined in this sectional by West Geauga as the only three teams here . ... Lake has a very strong team across the board, though their highestranked wrestlers on a state basis are Brendan McCrone (32-2 at 120), Ethan Smith (38-0 at 138) and Cole Hivnor (33-1 at 182). But with guys such as Anthony Trivisonno (31-2 at 145) and Rob Boley (30-4 at 160), there’s plenty of high-end talent that makes Lake the favorite here . ... Chardon had five WRC champions — Will Vucetic (132), Jaden Farris (145), Kaz Rajko (170), Charlie Brosch (182) and Alex McDonald (220). Looking at that, the potential matchup between Farris and Lake’s Trivisonno should be a doozy. The afternoon/evening sessions could/should have a very heavy Hilltopper flavor . ... West Geauga has plenty of candidates to move on to the district level with a high seed, too, including Jack Sparent (16-1 at 126), Thomas Randau (14-1 at 132) and 285-pounder Lucas Sadler.

Brock Christian is 26-2 at 120 and Ryan Berdysz is 23-5 at 132 — then there’s Tommy Jackson as a favorite at 220. The Pirates can put a lot of points on the board in this sectional. The host Red Raiders will advance a lot to the district tourney, too. Keep an eye on Carl and Tom Sicker, Elijah Rowdy and powerful Jayden Jackson (26-1 at 170). Jackson vs. Perry’s Jimmy Thomas is one to watch at 170 . ... Geneva’s top threats are seniors Caleb Selman (27-0at 160) and Jesse McElroy (20-6 at 145). Brier Streets is 14-1 at 113.

Streaming: nfhsnetwork. com/schools/berkshirehigh-school-burton-oh

For the record: The team title should come down to Tuslaw and the host Badgers. Berkshire is formidable from top to bottom and very well could advance all of its wrestlers to the district tournament. In the lower weights, Berkshire has the Heiden boys (Justin is 23-5 at 113 and Johnny is 21-7 at 132), as well as Alex Munn (34-6 at 138). Up top, it’s Lucas Stoddard (38-0 at 182) and JJ Perrin (195) holding down the fort. The potential 195-pound bout between Perrin and Kirtland’s Anthony Gencarelli is a marquee match. They didn’t face each other when the teams met in a dual earlier this year. .. Gencarelli is 18-2 for the Hornets. Brennon Braud is 16-3 at 182for Kirtland, while Will Davidson (15-5 at 120) is another Hornet to watch. ... Hawken has high star power in 113-pound Patrick Reineke and 138-pound Jacob Hlifka . ... Cardinal’s Jerry Rose was a state qualifier last year and could do it again this year at 182. ... VASJ has its deepest team in years.
