WWLCC golf outing sells out, grows
The Willoughby Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce’ s Golf Outing continues to grow business and sell out every year.
The Willoughby Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Golf Outing continues to grow business and sell out every year, with the last gold sponsorship and twosome recently being purchased.
The 2021 golf outing will be taking place June 4 at Little Mountain Country Club, located at 7667 Hermitage Road.
“We’re pretty excited about it because this year we’re going to have the ability to do some of the things we weren’t able to do last year,” said Karen W. Tercek, the chamber’s president and CEO. “Fortunately, Little Mountain has an outdoor pavilion, which makes it a little easier for us to serve dinner.
“Not knowing what the guidelines are going to be by then, it’s more comfortable outside for everybody to be able to have dinner after the outing.”
This year’s outing will have a shotgun start, Tercek said, which did not happen last year due to restrictions.
“We couldn’t have hole sponsors because otherwise the hole sponsors would have been there a long day,” Tercek said. “So, with the shotgun start, we have the ability to have our hole sponsors.”
Kathy Longo, of Emerald Glen Title Agency, became chair of the annual golf outing over nine years ago and gave it new life with fun activities and participation of chamber members, Tercek said.
Following Longo came Sara Spence, of Spence Technologies, as the new chair three years ago and continues to make the golf outing a sought out annual event by many golfers, Tercek said.
“We sell out early every year, but I have to say we have a very strong golf outing committee who are just great supporters of the outing, and that really does make a difference,” Tercek said.
Typically, more manufacturing companies, the chamber’s biggest sector of business, attend the golf outing.
“They’ll bring their clients or they will bring some staff with them,” she said. “From the sponsorship level, the hole sponsorships gives other folks the opportunity to really get that visibility in front of potential customers as they go around to the different holes.
“You’re waiting to tee off and you have a chance to talk to somebody you may not know, connect in some way and may end up doing business,” she added. A lot of times, they do end up doing business, which is fantastic. That’s kind of the intent of the golf outing. It’s for folks to be able to connect, network, have fun and have an opportunity to grow their business.”
