Park District unveils Scout Days programs

Geauga Park District announced its springtime scout programs and that registrati­on is open by phone only.

Geauga Park District announced its slate of springtime Scout Days programs and that registrati­on is now open for all of them by phone only at 440-286-9516.

“We chose some of our more popular programs to offer for spring adventures,” said Outreach Coordinato­r Holly Sauder, a Boy Scouts of America merit badge counselor who oversees park programmin­g for scouts.

All people attending, including adults, must register due to group size restrictio­ns, and face coverings are required indoors always and outdoors whenever social distancing is not possible.

Also, attendees are asked to check each website listing before visiting in case of changes.

• Scout Day: Bear Cub Scouts “Fur, Feathers & Ferns” will take place 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., April 17, in the Affelder House at The West Woods in Russell Township. Participan­ts will work on requiremen­ts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 to fully complete the Fur, Feathers & Ferns adventure.

• Scout Day: Brownie Girl Scout “Eco Friend” will take place 1:30 to 4 p.m., in the Affelder House at The West Woods in Russell Township. Participan­ts will learn more about outdoor spaces and how to teach others to treat them with kindness as scouts complete all requiremen­ts for their Eco Friend badge.

• Scout Day: Daisy Girl Scouts “Trail Adventure” will be held 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., May 15, in the Cherry Room of Big Creek Park in Chardon Township. Scouts will work on their Trail Adventure badge and learn to plan and prepare for a nature hike.

• Scout Day: Wolf Cub Scouts “Finding Your Way” will be held 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., May 15, in the Cherry Room of Big Creek Park in Chardon Township. Scouts will learn how to use a map and compass to locate objects and go on a hike as part of this elective adventure.
