Lake County to hold vaccine ‘mega-POD’ clinics

Lake County will hold its first two “mega-POD” novel coronaviru­s vaccine clinics March 31 and April 7 with future clinics being scheduled.

According to the Lake County General Health District, about 5,000 people will receive the COVID-19 vaccine during the March 31 clinic at Mentor High School.

The health district is holding the COVID-19 megaPoint of Dispensing (POD) in conjunctio­n with the Lake County Fire Chiefs’ Associatio­n, Lake County Emergency Management Agency, Lake County Commission­ers’ Office and Lake County Mayors/City Managers, Cleveland Clinic, Lake Health, and University Hospitals.

As of the 11:42 a.m. March 30 news release from the health district, all spots at the March 31 clinic are filled, but there are 3,000 open appointmen­ts for the April 7 clinic at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland.

Future clinics at Lakeland are also in the process of being scheduled, according to the news release. New appointmen­ts will open every Monday.

To register for the April 7 POD clinic, use the ArmorVax scheduling system.

Those without email addresses and/or needing assistance making appointmen­ts can call 440350-2684 on Mondays and Tuesdays, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Lake County General Health District’s Health Commission­er Ron Graham said “our main priority is to safely vaccinate as many individual­s in Lake County

who want it, so we can get back to our families, our school, and to work.”

County Commission­er John Hamercheck said in a statement he is pleased to see so many agencies “coming together to serve the needs of the Lake County community.”
