Ashtabula Arts Center

The Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St., is presenting works by Julie Cook throughout April. A self-taught artist, Cook works mainly in acrylics and mixed-media. The Madison resident is very active in the area art scene and has been included in many juried shows throughout Northeast Ohio, as well as solo shows. Her work is also available at Stella’s Art Gallery in Willoughby. Part of each purchase is sent to Global Advance Projects (globaladva­nceproject­s.org), an organizati­on that helps atrisk children on the Thailand/Myanmar border and where Cook’s daughter works. Rabbit Run

The 29th annual “Juried Art Show” sponsored by Rabbit Run Community Arts Associatio­n and the Madison Public Library, 6111 Middle Ridge Road, will be on display through April 28. Plans include a reception honoring the artist at 6:30 p.m. April 7. For more informatio­n, call RRCAA at 440-428-5913.

Stella’s Art Gallery

Next up at Stella’s Art Gallery, 38033 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, is “Line by Line.” Words are the inspiratio­n and the tool of creation. Artists are challenged to create artworks inspired by words in any medium. The categories are Music, Literature and Language. The words of inspiratio­n should be obvious in the artworks. Artworks will be accepted from 1 to 7:30 p.m. April 2 and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 3. Stella’s Annex Gallery is a 14-by-16-foot room with a 10-foot ceiling and a hanging system in place. It is attached to the main gallery and is available for artists to rent on a monthly basis to showcase their work. The fee is $300, and five photograph­s of the artwork needs to be emailed to StellasArt­s@gmail.com for an advisory board to jury before acceptance.
