Deepwood Foundation to host virtual derby
Deepwood Foundation is hosting the second Deepwood Virtual Derby Fundraiser to benefit individuals with developmental disabilities in Lake County.
“Last year’s Virtual Derby raised over $9,000 and we are hoping to raise the bar even higher to assist our friends with developmental disabilities,” said Tana Habat, program administrator for Deepwood Foundation.
“All proceeds from the event directly benefit individuals in Lake County with developmental disabilities for such things as adaptive equipment, iPads, communication apps, community activities & opportunities, and so much more.
Ticket purchasers choose a number from 1 to 20. Numbers correspond with the Kentucky Derby lineup, which will be held Saturday, May 1 at 6 p.m. Ticket numbers placing first, second or third will be entered into a drawing to win a cash prize as follows: WIN (first place) $500; PLACE (second place) $300 and SHOW (third place) $200. There will be one cash prize for each level. There will be 47 door prizes with a value of $25 or more that will be awarded through a drawing from the entire pool of tickets.
The virtual event fun begins on May 1 when everyone’s favorite jockey, Charlie Schulz, hosts the event and draws the winning tickets.
“Everyone keep calm and Derby on to support Deepwood Foundation,” says Schulz.
“Wear your big hat and watch the Kentucky Derby!” adds Habat. “Winners will be announced one hour after the Kentucky Derby Race on Facebook Live @DeepwoodFoundation.”
Tickets are $30 or three for $7. Your purchase gives you a chance to win one or more of 50 prizes. Tickets can be purchased and official rules are posted on the events page at deepwoodfoundation.org.
