Fairmount series presents program on creativity
‘Making Creativity Pervasive’ held via Zoom April 18
Fairmount Center for the Arts will present its next “Pull Back the Curtain” Speaker Series program April 18, and it will feature philanthropist, collector and community leader Fred Bidwell.
“Making Creativity Pervasive in Our Communities” will be offered at 3 p.m. via Zoom. The link to access viewing of this program will be emailed to registrants 24 hours in advance of the program.
In 2011, after a 35-year career as an advertising and marketing entrepreneur, Bidwell and his wife established the Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Foundation. In 2013, the foundation opened Transformer Station, a contemporary art exhibition space on Cleveland’s West Side.
Transformer Station alternates between serving as a venue for exhibitions curated by the Bidwells from their collection of photo-based contemporary art and for exhibitions organized by the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Bidwell served twice as board president of the Akron Art Museum and is currently on the board of the Cleveland Museum of Art. He also serves on the visiting committee of the Allen Memorial Art Museum in Oberlin.
Bidwell launched FRONT International, a season-long contemporary art triennial exhibition of contemporary art in over 20 venues in 2018 and is leading planning for its second edition in 2022.
Fairmount’s Speakers Series is free, thanks to the support of Toby and Melanie Maloney, the Figgie Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council.
