Outlook
The Eagles are coming off back-to-back 8-2 seasons and a total league record of 10-2 over that span. There’s good, solid skill positions returning, but there is also some inexperience in spots. The graduation of two-way standouts Charlie Taylor (RBDL) and Ben Scibona (QB-LB) are biggies to replace. Senior Brady Peet has started two years at running back and linebacker. That experience helps a lot. First-year QB Wyatt Fuduric has a great arm to go with his running ability. Dylan Hamilton is another prime playmaker. As usual, the Eagles will want to establish the running game first, which sets up the pass. The key is going to be in the trenches, where there are two-way starters.
Player to watch
Brady Peet has the tools and intangibles to be a marquee player for the Eagles, just like his brother Blake was before heading off to the college ranks. He’s fast, physical and doesn’t make mental mistakes. That’s the kind of leader the Eagles can hang their hats on every Friday night. He and QB Wyatt Fuduric are big keys to the team. Underclassman to watch: Jacob Wilson, a junior, is the strongest Eagle. He leads the team in bench-press (285) and squat (475). He is part of a fast and physical linebacking unit.
Bottom line
IF: The Eagles stay healthy and don’t turn the ball over, THEN: They will contend for the CVC Chagrin title again.
