Outlook
Taking an especially cautious approach amid the pandemic in regard to a restart date, the Hawks logged four games last fall. Pieces are in place to have an exciting offense, masterminded by Robinson II, and skill-position weapons such as Harrison and Johnson. Where Hawken without question needs to tighten up is on defense. In those aforementioned four 2020 games, the Hawks yielded 2,137 yards. They’re fully aware of that fact in Chester Township and are working diligently to improve upon it. With one winning season since 2014, Hawken is eager to take that next step and recapture at least some of its traditional glory.
Player to watch
QB Terrence Robinson II, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound senior, has long been one of The News-Herald coverage area’s better young signal-callers. Amid the challenges of a pandemic-altered campaign, Robinson still managed to throw for 793 yards in 2020. The hope, with the vertical promise in the offense and some dual-threat potential, is he can improve upon that in 2021. Underclassman to watch: Sophomore C Louie Justice, at 6-4and 281pounds, provides a massive presence at the heart of protecting Robinson II.
Bottom line
IF: … the defense shows even marginal improvement; THEN: … a potent Robinsonled offense could keep the Hawks in most games and possibly win a handful.
