The Preppers also recorded wins over SVSM (8-5) and West Branch (8-4) as they ran their win streak to five. … It was an up-anddown week for Chagrin Falls with a pair of wins over Hawken (9-7) and Geneva (5-2), but losses to the Eagles (10-8) and Lake Catholic (3-1) in extra innings. While they drop out of the top spot, the Tigers are sitting atop the CVC Chagrin Division with a game and tiebreaker over Hawken. … Speaking of the Hawks, Hawken bounced back after the losses to Chagrin Falls with a sweep of West Geauga and VASJ with a loss to Orange sandwiched between. … After the top three, there is a jumble of WRC teams. Mayfield, Chardon and Riverside all have matched up at least once and things get confusing there. Mayfield has surged to the top of the conference with wins over both Chardon and Riverside and they move above both. … Chardon drops to fifth after a second loss in the week to Kenston. However, the strength of their wins from earlier in the season keeps the Hilltopper­s in the top half of the Crop. … Another team that put together an impressive week was Lake Catholic, as the Cougars posted a pair of wins over Gilmour and the aforementi­oned win over Chagrin Falls. The Cougars look to build on their success in the past week as they prepare for six games next week. … Riverside beat Madison, but the loss to Mayfield coupled with Lake Catholic’s victories push the Cougars ahead of the Beavers. … Perry recorded three victories over Fairport, VASJ and Keystone. … Geneva returns to the rankings with its victory over Chagrin Falls in extras. The road doesn’t get easier for the Eagles, as they have a pair with Hawken as well as Wickliffe and Riverside on the schedule. … The competitio­n remains fierce for the final spot in the Crop, and this week it goes to VASJ. The Vikings went 2-2with the losses being to Perry and Hawken while they posted shutout victories over Fairport and Cornerston­e.
