Janice J. Christopherson

Janice Jean Christopherson, age 93, passed away February 15, 2022 in Willoughby, Ohio surrounded by her family. She was born September 2, 1928 in Dorset, Ohio and was a resident of Concord Township for over

50 years. She was a graduate of Dorset High School and Kent State University where she met the love of her life, Ray D. Christopherson. Janice married Ray on July 21, 1951 in Dorset, Ohio before making Willoughby, Ohio their first home where they met lifelong friends.

They were married over 60 years prior to Ray’s death on February 15, 2012.

Janice taught at Willoughby Union High School and Lakeland Community College. She was a member of Mentor Women’s Club, the Lake County Retired Teachers Association, Concord Garden Club and was a volunteer for Lake Health. Janice enjoyed being a teacher and her students described her as being tough but fair. She most enjoyed large family gatherings at the holidays and was the “ultimate planner” when it came to family weddings, reunions and vacations.

Survivors include her children Amy Matanowitch (Walter) of Willoughby, Alan (Kelley) of Leroy, Ann Remlinger (Thomas) of Fishers, Indiana and Alisa Novak (David) of Painesville, grandchildren Matthew (Teresa), Michael (Mandi) and Mark Christopherson, Rachel and Morgan (Kelsey) Remlinger and Zachary Novak, great-grandchildren Brayden, Kalen and Ava.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray D. Christopherson and parents, Lloyd and Maude Flickinger.

A memorial service will be held on May 14, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby, Ohio. The family will receive friends from

9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Interment at Concord Township Cemetery, Concord Township, Ohio.
