It is with great sorrow the family of Emmitt Ray Balser announce his passing on May 6, 2022. Ray was born September 15, 1937 in Mammoth, West Virginia to the late Everett and Hattie (Young) Balser. Ray retired from the City of Pepper Pike’s Service Department after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outside. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Brown’s on TV.

He is survived by his beloved wife Faye (Carpenter) Balser of Newbury,

Ohio, that he married 65 years ago on April 6, 1957; Children Daniel (Marsha) Balser of Pataskala, Ohio, Teresa Balser of Hilliard, Ohio and Karen (Jeffrey) Rains of Hilliard, Ohio; Grandchild­ren Coltin Balser of Columbus, Ohio, Jessica (Noel) Rupel of Burley, Idaho and Elizabeth Rains of Loveland, Ohio. Also survived by siblings Glowel Gene Balser of Woodbine, Ga, James (Shirley) Balser of Massillon, Ohio, Harold Balser of Norton, Ohio, Norva (Mark) Warner of Parsons, West Virginia, Bernard (Karen) Balser of Belle, West Virginia, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Preceded in death by his Mother Hattie (Young) Balser, Father Everett Balser, Sister Emma Balser, sister Lou Vernia (Balser) Citraro, Brother Donald Balser and Grandson Conor Rains.

Visitation is planned for Friday May 13, 2022 at Sly Funeral Home, 15670 W High St, Middlefiel­d, Ohio, from 9:00 AM until the Celebratio­n of his life at 11:00 AM. Pastor Bob Richardson will be officiatin­g his service. Burial will follow the service in Munn Cemetery, Newbury, Ohio.
