Organizers have announced that the third annual Fairport Harbor Village Fest is slated for noon to 5 p.m., Sept. 3.

“We are really excited for Village Fest this year,” said Fairport Harbor Village Administrator Amy Cossick.

The village is sponsoring the event, along with the Fairport Harbor Heritage Foundation and CT Consultants.

Village Fest aims to provide enjoyment for people of all ages, Cossick said.

“We will have face painters, and the Police Department and Fire Department will have vehicles on display for the kids to check out,” she said. “While all of our shops will be open, with activities and merchandise out on the street, families will also be able to visit the Fairport Marine Museum and Lighthouse and the Finnish Heritage Museum.”

In addition, a DJ from Raining Melodies Entertainment will provide music for guests, and the Heritage Foundation is hosting a beer tent.

Festival activities and attractions will be situated on High Street, from Second to Fourth streets, and a nearby section of Third Street, in the village’s downtown.

“Some of our additional festival booths include the Fairport Harbor Tourism Council, Trishy Farms, Grandmaz Nutz and Soo Sweet Treats,” Cossick said.

Anyone working up a hearty appetite during the event can check out various restaurants and eateries that are based in downtown Fairport Harbor. The CLE Chicken food truck also will be on hand to serve up its specialties.

This year’s Village Fest will be preceded by a Red, White and Blue Patriotic Golf Cart Parade that starts at 11 a.m. Sept. 3.

Other types of vehicles; floats; and individuals and groups on foot also were invited to register for and participate in the procession. But awards will be given exclusively for the most patriotically decorated golf carts.

The parade will start in the 600 block of Third Street near the Slovenian Club and then travel on Third to Vine Street; Vine to Seventh Street; and Seventh to Eagle Street.
