The 39th annual Super Button Box Bash is now set for April 16, as attendees will be able to dance to the sounds of 60 accordions on two stages, plus jam sessions all day at the American Croatian Lodge in Eastlake.

The National ClevelandStyle Polka Hall of Fame will be hosting the event which runs from 1 to 6 p.m., according to a news release.

Attendees can thrill to the festival of button accordion music as well as bring their own box and play along, the release stated. People will also be able to indulge in nationality treats, such as smoked Slovenian sausage, roast beef and strudel.

Attendees also can pick up a souvenir T-shirt, sweatshirt, babushka or polka CD at the Polka Hall of Fame pop-up shop.

Button box groups and artists appear on the main stage, plus polka jamming alongside. Featured performers so far include Patty C and the Guys, the Fairport Jammers, Kathy Hlad, Ron Likovic, Frank and Darryl Valencic, with more to come, the release stated.

The diatonic accordion, known as the button box, is a traditional instrument in Slovenian folk music and has attracted nationwide popularity in the U.S. and Canada. The button box operates like a harmonica with bellows — a buttonoperated note changes depending on if the bellows are pulled in or out.

The American Croatian Lodge is at 34900 Lakeshore Boulevard in Eastlake.

People can save $3 when they buy an advance ticket at $12 while it will be $15 at the door. Those 18 and under free are admitted for free.

Dinners, sandwiches, side dishes, desserts and beverages are available.

Order tickets from the Polka Hall of Fame, 605 E. 222nd St., Euclid, OH 44123. It is open Wednesdays and Saturdays, 11 to 4 p.m. For more information, contact the Polka Hall Fame at 216261-3263, or PolkaShop@ aol.com.
