Jean and Donald Kalman

Jean L. (nee: Gano) Kalman age 84 and Donald J. Kalman age 91 died together on May 7, 2023. Jean was born on November 10, 1938 to the late Ralph and Ruth (nee: Reno) Gano. She was a graduate of Riverside High School and worked for Lake County National Bank and Super K-Mart. Jean was a member of Painesvill­e United Methodist Church, Stitchers Sewing Group. and the Little Mountain Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting and counter cross stitch.

Donald was born on November 15, 1931 in Painesvill­e to the late Joseph and Marion (nee: Szabo) Kalman. He graduated from Euclid High School in 1950 and then worked for Bailey Meter, Harvey Hubbell as a draftsman and retired from Sivon Mfg. where he was a machine operator. He belonged to R.S.V.P. and volunteere­d at the Mentor Senior Center kitchen, and the Meals on Wheels Lunch Site in Fairport Harbor. He enjoyed keeping up his home, woodworkin­g, gardening, and caring for his fruit trees.

They are survived by their loving daughter, Nancy (Michael) Stark; grandchild­ren, Michael (Kasy) Stark, Patrick (Samantha) Stark, Haley (Derek) Kalman, and Amber (John) Gray; Daughter-in-law, Angela (Mark) Painter; Jean’s sister, Bonnie (Roger) Dewitt; and their niece, Gayle Kalman.

In addition to their parents, they are preceded in death by their son, Brian James Kalman; Donald’s brother, Edward Kalman; and their niece, Janet Kalman.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 11:00AM until the memorial service at 1:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesvill­e, Ohio 44077. Inurnment will be held on Monday, May 14, 2023 at 12:30PM at Mentor Municipal Cemetery, Mentor, Ohio.
