James Charles Langford

James C. Langford age 91 of Mentor and previously of Painesvill­e, passed away on August 11, 2023 at David Simpson Hospice House of the Western Reserve. He was born on April 22, 1932 in Coxs Mills, West Virginia to the late James and Frankie (nee: Greenlief) Langford. James was a U.S. Army veteran. When Jim came back from serving in the Army, he went to work for Chase Brass in Euclid and then worked for Midwest Materials in Perry. Jim was also a volunteer for the Grand River Fire Department for 25 years and enjoyed operating his own welding business. He enjoyed building race cars with his son and was an all around mechanical­ly inclined man. Jim was a friendly, compassion­ate gentleman and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Sylvia Jayne Langford; daughter-inlaw, Eileen Langford; grandsons, Joe, David, and James Langford; brother, Jerry Langford (Waneta-deceased); stepdaught­ers, Lisa Jayne and Jennifer Hillsman (Todd) grandchild­ren, McKenzie Matthews, Morgan Matthews, Sydney Hillsman, Max Cannon, Sam Cannon, and Ike Cannon and great-Granddaugh­ter Wynter Stevens, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Verla Jean; son, Jeffrey Langford; and 6 siblings. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00AM at First Church Congregati­onal, 22 Liberty Street, Painesvill­e, Ohio 44077.
