Outlook
The Spartans return to the field on the varsity level for the first time since 2019, and it’s going to be a learning curve to start. But the players have bought in and are excited to face a challenging schedule. Richmond Heights has a strong offensive line leading the way during camp and are going to be a physical team early as the skill positions find their strides. The defense has also made an early impression on the coaching staff as everyone flies to the ball.
Player to watch
Quarterback Darius Munford is a dual-threat with his speed as the biggest weapon available to him. He has become a leader for the group and someone all the players look to. Underclassman to watch: 6-foot-7junior Tristin Kyle is a tone-setter up front and will see much of the running attack go off of his blocking ability early in the season while also wreaking havoc in the opponent’s backfield.
Bottom line
IF: the Spartans can adjust as the season progresses, THEN: they will compete for an over .500 record.
