Clark Kellogg Award watch list
The Clark Kellogg Award is presented annually to The News-Herald’s boys basketball player of the year. The winner will be announced after the completion of the state tournament on a date to be announced.
This list can fluctuate throughout the season. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order.
G/F Luke Barbo, Jr., Geneva: Leads a strong Eagles team with 14.1 points per game and can move inside when needed, averaging six rebounds a game.
SF Nick Barisic, Sr., Kirtland: The leading scorer for the Hornets is averaging 12.9 points and has connected on 253-pointers. Also averaging 3.7steals and to assists on the season.
G Justin Belcher, Sr., University: Paces the Preppers with 18 points per game to go with averages of 5.2 rebounds, 3.5assists and three steals. Strong on the drive and able to step back with 24 3-pointers.
SG Matt Biddell, Sr., Mentor: Has a strong drive to the basket as he averages 25.1 points per game. Also leads the Cardinals with 5.2assists and 2.5steals while second on the team in rebounds with 7.4
G Peyton Budrys-Rini, Sr., Lake Catholic: The Cougars’ leader averages 14.7 points per game and has started to have more of an impact on the boards, averaging five a game.
G Taj Caver, Sr., Hawken: He leads the surging Hawks at 15 points per game and has connected on 32 3-pointers. Hangs his hat on defense as the team has held opponents under 40 points a game in their eightgame winning streak.
G/F Damari Dammons, Jr., Brush: Averaging 9.3 points per game for the Arcs. Can also step inside and averages 4.8 rebounds a game.
G Troy Domen, Sr., Cardinal: Strong all-around the floor as he leads the Huskies with 23.9 points and 59 3-pointers. Also averages 3.7 steals.
G JP Dragas, Sr., Madison: Averaging 27.1 points for the Blue Streaks and has 40 3-pointers on the season. Also leads the team in assists (3.4) and steals (4.4) while being second in rebounds (4.6).
G Evan Dugger, Sr., NDCL: Guiding a Lions offense that is finding its stride with 17.9 points per game and 54 3-pointers.
G/F Thai Duncan, Jr., Euclid: Leads the Panthers on offense at 19.7 points per game, and is able to take a step back when needed with 34 3-pointers.
F James Gadomski, Sr., Fairport: Does anything needed of him for the Skippers as he leads them at 25.9points per game with 523-pointers. Also averaging 8.2rebounds, 4.8assists, 3.7steals and 1.9blocks.
G Armani Hall, So., Harvey: The leading scorer for a young Red Raiders bunch as he averages 15.8 points with 50 3-pointers. Can also move inside as he averages 4.8 rebounds a game.
F Ian Ioppolo, Sr., Mentor: Averages 27.1 points for the Cardinals. Is strong from the outside (51 3-pointers) and has moved inside and averages 8.3 rebounds to lead the team as well.
G Dorian Jones, Jr., Richmond Heights: Plays strong for the Spartans inside and out while also being able to work for rebounds as well.
G Quinn Kwasniak, Jr., Cornerstone: Averaging 35.5 points per game to lead the coverage area while connecting on 84 3-pointers. Also leads the Patriots with 9.4 rebounds, seven assists and 2.7steals.
G Landon Lear, Jr., West Geauga: Leads team at 20.4 points per game and crashes the boards at 6.5 rebounds a game.
F Derreon Malone, Jr., Perry: A sharpshooter for the Pirates at 14.5points per game and 34 3-pointers. Also plays strong on- ball defense with 3.9steals per game.
G Delond Moss, Sr., South: Leads the Rebels in points (18.9) as well as assists (3.4). Also a strong defender averaging 2.1 steals and 1.1 blocks.
F/C Sean Register, Sr., North: Impacts the game all over the floor for the Rangers. Leads them in points (29.9), rebounds (11.3), assists (3.7) and second in blocks (1.7)
G Demarris Winters, Jr., Richmond Heights: A strong change-of-pace player with his ability from beyond the arc.
G Quandell Wright, Sr., VASJ: The leading scorer for a resurgent Vikings squad at 16.5 points per game. Also able to crash the glass as he averages 5.2 rebounds per game along with 1.9 steals.
