MIDDLETOWN - Patricia Ann Sharpe “Pat”, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 20, 2023.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 7, 1943. She worked at DuPont for 5 years before she had her kids. She worked at Dental Associates of Delaware in Middletown for 23 years before retiring.

Pat loved decorating for the fall season, as it was her favorite, and she enjoyed decorating local businesses during that time of the year. Her next adventure honored her love for the fall season. Pat started her own family business for the community to enjoy called “Sharpe Meadows Make Your Own Scarecrow”. People from all over came out year after year to make a scarecrow, take a hayride, and visit the Boo Barn. The whole family and their friends pitched in to help and enjoy the fall festivities. This business thrived for 15 years. Pat also started her own business in Middletown called the “MOT Hospitality Welcome Basket”. The business was designed to welcome people that were new to the area, by giving them information about the town and local businesses. No one else could be suited for such a job, as she was “Miss Middletown” back in the day. Pat retired from the Welcome basket when her gait and steps became unsteady, and she was afraid of falling.

She was married for 56 years to the love of her life, John “Herb” Sharpe, who preceded her in death on November 26th, 2020. They both had health issues towards the end, but they had an uncanny knack of caring for each other when they were in need. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Weitzel.

Her family was the focus of her love and attention. She loved to do things with her grandkids and made many memories. From the beach, the boat, swimming, driving gators and tractors, riding in antique cars, and going places together. Pat was a wonderful wife, mom, Mom-Mom, and friend to many. She was a very loving, kind, and generous woman. Pat has been described as stubborn and independent, but that served her well in her fight against Parkinson’s Disease. She leaves behind quite a legacy for us to follow in her footsteps. If she could give us advice right now, it would be to “Always be humble and kind” like one of her favorite songs from Tim McGraw.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Sharpe) Kinnamon (Christopher), and Lorrie (Sharpe) Wallendorf ( Wayne), Grandsons, Zachary Kinnamon, Collin Wallendorf, and Connor Wallendorf.

Services were held in October.
