CHESAPEAKE CITY - Marguerite B. Elborn passed peacefully after a short illness on March 20, 2024. She was surrounded by family.

Born near Middletown, DE, the daughter of the late Norman and Lora Butler, Marguerite was raised on the family farm before they moved to Odessa, DE. She was the youngest of nine children and graduated from Middletown High School.

Prior to her retirement from the automotive industry, she held various positions through the years ranging from selling Dutchmaid clothing in which she was a top salesperson and, also, worked in support of her husband, Bob, with the Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council.

Marguerite took pride in her family, to whom she was entirely devoted. She was known for her beautiful gardens and was a multi-talented craftsperson (i.e., painting, drawing, sewing, needlework, cooking, baking and decorating wedding cakes). Her quiet, calm, gracious and loving demeanor made her a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, and sister who created an especially welcoming atmosphere for family and friends.

Marguerite was married to Robert H. Elborn for 64 years whom she dearly missed after he passed in 2018. She is survived by their children Deena (Rob), Scott (Gaye), Eric, Genene (Greg), and Lori (Don); seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sister, Allene B. King.

A memorial service will be held on April 6th at 10:00am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 450 Third St., Chesapeake City, MD, followed by a reception.
