Francis X. McHugh

WILMINGTON - Our beloved father, Francis X. McHugh Jr. (“Frank”), age 86, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, at Christiana Hospital. Frank was born on March 11, 1938, to Frank X. Sr. & Mildred (Walker) McHugh on Gilpin Avenue in The Forty Acres.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by the love of his live Dorothy (Dottie) his wife of 59 years, on January 21, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jeannie Bell (Bill), Janet Patterson (George), Joanne Knox (Bill), Mary Farrall; and his grandson, Shane McHugh.

Frank was a retired electrician and was a proud 65-year member of the IBEW Union #313. He followed in his father’s footsteps and together they had over 120 years of combined membership in Local Union #313. Frank was also a longstanding member of the Mill Creek Fire Company. During his time at Mill Creek, he held several offices including Vice President and President. He loved serving his community.

Frank is survived by his daughters, Sharon Kay, Teresa Lynn ( Jim) and Cassandra Ann (Dino); four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Judith McHugh; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Farrall; and many, many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his family.

As per Frank’s wishes, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held alongside his “Beloved Wife Dottie,” for family and friends at All Saints Cemetery on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00am.
