ARC HONORS BILL GLASS, CHARLIE SCHOTT
The Association of Religious Communities honored retiring Deputy Superintendent Bill Glass and longtime volunteer Charlie Schott at a ceremony Thursday night.
Glass has served for 40 years in various leadership positions across Danbury schools, represented the district on state and national task forces, and helped found the Academy of International Studies. He earned his master's degree and doctorate in education at Columbia University and has lectured at Columbia, Yale University and Western Connecticut State University.
Schott and his wife, Laurie, have led a volunteer program to mentor Morris Street School students since 2011. The program has since expanded to five elementary schools, 20 classrooms, 390 students and 64 volunteers. The Schotts are passing the program to other volunteers as they prepare to move across the state.
