Nine freshmen walk-ons are included on UConn’s updated football roster including four state natives.

It has previously been reported that former Hamden Hall linebacker Anthony Repollet, former St. Luke’s lineman Brendan Casey and Lavarey Banton, who ran for 15 touchdowns and had 146 tackles as a senior at Hartford Public, would be going to UConn. Former Hopkins offensive lineman Douglas Wardlaw, who was on the 2017 Union College roster, is among the newcomers on the UConn squad along with Justin Bryant, Michael Freeman, Clayton Harris, Noah Iden and Tenzin Pharachesur.

They will join the 24 scholarship true freshmen as every player signed by UConn in either December or February is currently on the updated roster. There will be eight Connecticut natives in the true freshman class counting former Capital Prep standouts Khyon Gillespie and Oneil Robinson joined by All-Staters Travis Jones and Kevon Jones out of Wilbur Cross and East Hartford respectively.

Fresh off getting a commitment from Ridgefield receiver Jackson Mitchell in the Class of 2019, Salisbury School receiver/defensive back Winston Jules announced via social media on Saturday that he has also committed to UConn.
