Westerners split doubleheader with Bay Sox

NEW BEDFORD — Trey McLoughlin pitched six stellar innings to lead the Danbury Westerners to a 3-2 win over the New Bedford Bay Sox in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday night. The Westerners were unable to hold a late lead in the nightcap as the Bay Sox rallied for a 4-2 win.
McLoughlin allowed only one hit and one run while finishing with six strikeouts.
Walker Imwalle paced the offense in the opener with two hits and two RBIs.
The Westerners led 2-1 in the sixth during Game 2, but the Bay Sox rallied for three runs with the big hit coming on a two-run double by Logan Allen.
Eduardo Aaron Antonini and Brayden Combs had RBI singles for the Westerners (7-4).
Danbury returns to action Monday night with a road game against the Newport Gulls.
