“Lov­ing hus­band, fa­ther and grand­fa­ther”

Mr. Ernest J. Ben­dana, 78, of Her­itage Vil­lage in South­bury, for­merly a 40-year res­i­dent of Brook­field, CT en­tered into eter­nal rest on Fri­day, Novem­ber 30, 2018 at Dan­bury Hos­pi­tal in the pres­ence of his lov­ing fam­ily. He was the beloved hus­band of Mar­i­lyn T. (Putz) Ben­dana.

Ernie was born in Man­hat­tan, NY on Jan­uary 17, 1940, son of the late Ernest and Lily (Zeck) Ben­dana. He grad­u­ated from DeSalle Academy High School in Man­hat­tan and earned a Bach­e­lor’s in So­cial Sci­ence De­gree from Pace Univer­sity. He worked as a travel man­ager for United Air­lines over ten years and re­tired from Scholas­tic Books in Dan­bury. He moved from Man­hat­tan to Brook­field in 1978 and to South­bury in 2018.

Ernie was past pres­i­dent and mem­ber of the Lions Club of Brook­field and was a vol­un­teer for the Amer­i­can Red Cross Blood Drive an­nu­ally. He was a for­mer com­mu­ni­cant and lec­tor at St. Joseph Church in Brook­field. Ernie was an avid sports en­thu­si­ast and fan of the New York Giants and the New York Mets.

Be­sides his wife Mar­i­lyn of 49 years, he leaves to cher­ish his mem­ory two daugh­ters; Karen Cer­rato and her hus­band Lawrence of Mil­ford, CT and Ja­nine Weiss and her hus­band Wal­ter of Mid­dle­bury, CT; a brother, Rene Ben­dana and his wife Deb­bie of Delaware; five grand­chil­dren, Macken­zie, Mia, Syd­ney, Grace, and Ri­ley and sev­eral neph­ews. He was pre­de­ceased by a brother, Gil­bert Ben­dana.

Ar­range­ments: A fu­neral ser­vice with his cre­mains present will be cel­e­brated on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Brook­side Memo­rial, The Al­bini Fam­ily Fu­neral Home and Cre­ma­tory, 200 Ben­son Road, Mid­dle­bury, CT. Inurn­ment of cre­mains will be pri­vate and at the con­ve­nience of the fam­ily. Call­ing hours will be Tues­day morn­ing from 9:30 a.m. un­til the time of the ser­vice.
