1 dead, 1 injured after shooting in Danbury
DANBURY — One person is dead and another wounded after a policeinvolved shooting Saturday night, sources said.
The shooting happened at The Glen Senior Apartments, according to Mayor Mark Boughton. Dispatch reports indicated it was around 9:30 p.m. when gunfire rang out.
Police had been called to the apartments for a report of an unwanted person, the source said. As the officers approached, the person came running out the door with a weapon and a police officer fired at the person, the source said.
It was unclear if the other person who was shot was wounded by the suspect or by police. But, the source said, that person has non-life-threatening injuries.
“We did have an incident at The Glen Senior Apartment complex,” Boughton said in a phone interview late Saturday night. “All residents are safe ... our officers are safe.”
He said State Police responded to the apartment complex and have started an investigation into the incident.
