Cops report body found at train station
STAMFORD — A body was found at a Stamford train station Saturday, according to a Metro-North spokeswoman.
She said the body was found under the platform at the Springdale station and that Metropolitan Transportation Authority police are actively investigating.
Springdale is a neighborhood within the city of Stamford.
The spokeswoman said the cause of death is undetermined as of 6 p.m. Saturday. No further details about the person were provided.
Stamford police aided in the investigation, according to posts on the department’s social media.
As of 4:45 p.m., police said the entrance to Largo Drive at the Springdale Diner is closed until further notice. The roadway reopened around 8:10 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Metro-North Railroad initially said service on the New Canaan Branch was delayed because of the police activity near the Springdale station. But shortly before 6 p.m., substitute bus service was provided for customers.
