Cops re­port body found at train sta­tion

STAM­FORD — A body was found at a Stam­ford train sta­tion Sat­ur­day, ac­cord­ing to a Metro-North spokes­woman.

She said the body was found un­der the plat­form at the Springdale sta­tion and that Metropoli­tan Trans­porta­tion Author­ity po­lice are ac­tively in­ves­ti­gat­ing.

Springdale is a neigh­bor­hood within the city of Stam­ford.

The spokes­woman said the cause of death is un­de­ter­mined as of 6 p.m. Sat­ur­day. No fur­ther de­tails about the per­son were pro­vided.

Stam­ford po­lice aided in the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, ac­cord­ing to posts on the de­part­ment’s so­cial me­dia.

As of 4:45 p.m., po­lice said the en­trance to Largo Drive at the Springdale Diner is closed un­til fur­ther no­tice. The road­way re­opened around 8:10 p.m. Sat­ur­day, po­lice said.

Metro-North Rail­road ini­tially said ser­vice on the New Canaan Branch was de­layed be­cause of the po­lice ac­tiv­ity near the Springdale sta­tion. But shortly be­fore 6 p.m., sub­sti­tute bus ser­vice was pro­vided for cus­tomers.
