Ge­orge Lewis Graef Jr., of Dan­bury, CT died peace­fully on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 18, 2018. He was 91 years old. Ge­orge had been in the care of the Re­gional Hospice and Pal­lia­tive Care for sev­eral weeks be­fore his pass­ing, most re­cently at their care cen­ter in Dan­bury.

Ge­orge is sur­vived by his chil­dren, Paul of Port­land, OR, David of Camp­bell Hall, NY; Ge­orge III of Lin­coln, NE, and Robert of Wil­ton, CT, along with ten grand­chil­dren and three great-grand­chil­dren. He was pre­ceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Glo­ria (Gal­lucci) Graef and his par­ents, Ge­orge and Ju­lia (Cree) Graef of Dan­bury, CT.

Ge­orge, Jr. was born on July 15, 1927 in Dan­bury, CT. He grew up in Dan­bury and at­tended Dan­bury High School. In 1945, Ge­orge joined the Navy and served in the Philip­pines. He mar­ried Glo­ria Gal­lucci on June 9, 1951, and they set­tled in Bethel where they raised their four sons. Ge­orge worked for Sch­lum­berger in Ridge­field for 26 years where he made many life­long friends. Af­ter his re­tire­ment from Sch­lum­berger in 1983, Ge­orge and Glo­ria moved to a farm in Ox­ford, NY where they lived un­til Glo­ria’s death in 2002. Ge­orge loved rais­ing his own fruits and veg­eta­bles, and es­pe­cially en­joyed shar­ing his fresh picked blue­ber­ries, corn, and toma­toes and mon­ster zuc­chini with fam­ily and friends. Ge­orge re­turned to Dan­bury in 2003, where he re­con­nected with many of his old friends. He par­tic­u­larly en­joyed the monthly class lunches with his Dan­bury High School class­mates and get­ting to­gether with his Sch­lum­berger friends.

There will be a cel­e­bra­tion of Ge­orge’s life sched­uled in the spring. The fam­ily ap­pre­ci­ates the care and com­pas­sion that Ge­orge re­ceived from the Re­gional Hospice and Pal­lia­tive Care and asks that any re­mem­brances be sent in his mem­ory to Re­gional Hospice and Pal­lia­tive Care, 30 Mile­stone Road, Dan­bury, CT 06810.
