Jean Steele Stauf­fer, 89, of Brook­field, CT, passed away on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 31, 2018.

She was pre­de­ceased by John W., her hus­band of 65 years, and a brother, John B. Steele.

Jean was born on April 19, 1929, in West Thorn­ton, New Hamp­shire, a daugh­ter of the late Aletha (A. Smith) and Harry W. Steele. Jean is sur­vived by a sis­ter, Bar­bara Straub, and many nieces and neph­ews.

Jean was a long-time mem­ber of St. Paul’s Epis­co­pal Church where she was a val­ued mem­ber of the choir and the Al­tar Guild, and was trea­surer of the church for many years. Jean also spent many years as a mem­ber of the Brook­field His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety and in the Aux­il­iary of the Brook­field Fire Depart­ment.

The Burial Rite will be of­fered at 11:00 a.m. on Satur­day, Jan­uary 19, at St. Paul’s Epis­co­pal Church in Brook­field. In­ter­ment and re­cep­tion will fol­low at the church.
