Harold Emil Jedlicka, age 88 of New Milford, passed away at his home, Thursday June 21, 2018 after a long illness. He was the husband of Lucille (Remington) Jedlicka.

Harold was born July 28, 1929 in Port Chester, NY, a son of the late William and Antonia (Kvasnicka) Jedlicka. After high school, Harold completed aircraft mechanics school and joined the US Air Force, serving for seven years as a fighter and transport pilot during the Korean War. He was employed by the Barden Corporatio­n in Danbury for 29 years before retiring at age 64. Harold loved to fly and served as Chief Flight Instructor at Connecticu­t Air Service in Danbury for many years. He was also compassion­ate towards animals and gave a home to many a stray cat.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by three children; Jay Jedlicka and his wife Nonie of Simsbury, CT, Joy Manock and her husband Matthew of Virginia Beach, VA, Jill Beasley and her husband Bob of New York City, six grandchild­ren, and several nieces and nephews; three stepdaught­ers; Barbara Kostecki of Danbury, Carla Petrillo and her husband John of Brookfield, CT, April Brodeur of Waterbury, CT, eight step-grandchild­ren, twelve step-great grandchild­ren. He is predecease­d by his siblings Hilda Porter, Woodrow Jedlicka, Eleanor Meier, and twin Irene Grosser.

The family will receive friends at the Colonial Funeral Home 87 Park Lane Rd., New Milford, on Monday June 25, 2018 from 4 until 6 p.m.

A graveside service with military honors will be held in the Centervill­e Cemetery on Washington Ave., Hamden, CT, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
