The uniqueness of this home’s interior will astonish you.

“From the front, this appears to be a modest ranch, but it was totally renovated from its 1940s build date. It will delight and surprise you,” said Andrea Swiedler, Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties.

Built as a small ranch, the home was enlarged and remodeled in 1992 and is now a now 2,628square-foot, seven room contemporary located on 3.44 level acres at 24 Merwin Brook in Brookfield. In 2004, an addition was designed by the original architect.

“The home combines the original in part of the home with a distinctly modern twist in the addition. Unique lighting fixtures and edgy designs blend well into the home, bringing comfort and style together,” Swiedler said.

Atiled entryway offers a superb introduction to the home, including a black and white ceramic tiled floor, a vaulted ceiling, an enlarged wet bar area and plenty of closet and storage space. A half bathroom is located nearby.

Vivid red cabinetry, trendy concrete counters and a metal tread backsplash in the kitchen creates an up-to-date industrialstyle space for inspired cooking.

“The vaulted ceiling gives an airy feel to the room with hightech lighting suspended from the ceiling brightening up the room even more,” she said.

Additional details include a pantry covered with metal tread, pine hardwood floors, a stainless and black propane stove and electric oven, a stainless dishwasher and a refrigerator.

“The kitchen has that wow factor, while also thoughtfully designed for a cook,” Swiedler said.

Part of the 1992 addition is a combination living room/dining room.

“A wall of windows, with electric shades, overlooks the backyard for a stunning view and allows light to fill the room,” she said.

The room is well-appointed with beautiful and unique lighting, hardwood floors and a glass door that offers access to a private patio on the side of the house.

Astep down leads into the original part of the home.

“What was once the living room is now a library or den,” she noted.

This space is detailed with a brick wood-burning fireplace, oak hardwood floors and a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams.

“The room is more traditional than other parts of the home, yet with the addition of unusual and colorful metal shelving wrapping the room and modern lighting it combines the best of both worlds,” she said.

Aguest bedroom/office with an updated full bathroom completes the main level. It has a closet, oak hardwood floors and a built-in desk and storage space.

Amodern steel beam and wood staircase, designed by the current owner, leads to the upper level and a large, private, master bedroom suite.

“This is truly the best room in the house — an oasis designed for rest, relaxation, and comfort,” Swiedler said.

The room has a wall of windows that frames the backyard and pond, a sitting area, neutral wallto-wall carpeting and two closets, including one with a built-in cabinet system and large enough to be a dressing room. The master bathroom features a soaking tub overlooking a side garden, a glass tiled shower; a heated towel rack and a teak vanity. “Everywhere you look is soothing to the eye.”

An additional bedroom is located upstairs. It’s detailed with a wall of windows providing views of the property, a walk-in closet, oak hardwood floors and an ensuite bathroom.

“The bathroom is unique as it was painted by a well-known local artist,” she said. It has a soaking tub and a tiled shower.

Additional amenities include central air conditioning, a security system, an on-demand hot water system, hot air heat, an attic with a crawl space, a two car attached garage with an open storage loft above and an unfinished basement.

Feeling like an escape into nature’s wonderland is the professionally landscaped property, tended by the current owner, a horticulturist. A focal point is a backyard pond and abundant flora.

“The pond is home to fish, a heron and ducks, and allows for lazy summer days in a paddle boat. It’s surrounded by beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees of different colors and textures, giving interest all year long. The back of the property is bordered by Merwin Brook and Gurski Farm, with opportunity for some great walks in nature and it protects the view and privacy around the home,” Swiedler said.

Also, there’s a custom-made tea house made of exotic woods and an original designed bridge spanning the stream that flows into the pond. A large expanse of lawn leads to an arbor surrounded by greenery and multiple seating areas. Two bluestone patios provide ample space for relaxing and entertaining. Also, the property has custom-designed deer fencing and electronic entry gates.

“The outside is a delight, with care in mind to draw the outside into the home from almost every room,” Swiedler said. “Even at night the lighting provides beautiful views of the property, no matter if you are inside or out.”

This home will make you instantly happy.

“From the first time I viewed this home I knew it was something special. Anyone who appreciates a comfortable house that has a very distinct style, great flow, lots of natural lighting and views over a spectacular one-of-a-kind landscape will fall in love,” Swiedler said. “The home is located close to shopping, Lake Lillinonah, hiking trails and convenient to Interstate 84. It’s the perfect home for either a full-time resident or a weekender looking for that perfect country retreat. No matter what your needs, this will be sure to please.”

The home is offered at $625,000. To view the home, visit MLS#170125539.
