ARealtor since 2002, Karen Consalvo has an associate’s degree in business from the State University of New York. Prior to real estate, she worked with her husband in a bread distributo­rship he owned and before that, she worked for a telecommun­ications company.

In her role in telecommun­ications, Consalvo acquired customer service skills and learned how to deal with all sorts of people in a variety of financial situations. In her husband’s successful business, she honed business acumen and got a knack for finance, which has proven useful in real estate.

After her husband sold the distributi­on business and moved on to something else, Consalvo decided to return to her real estate roots. Her mother, who recently passed away, and her husband had a real estate office in Westcheste­r.

“I’ve been around [real estate] my entire adult life,” she said.

Her caring nature, compassion and a drive to make sure her clients get what they desire sets her apart.

“I treat people like I would want to be treated, I’m not over the top pushy,” she said. “I want them to be happy, sometimes that takes a little bit longer.”

Her relationsh­ips with clients don’t end at the closing table and she has made longtime friends with many of them, gaining a lot of business through their referrals.

She then previews properties on her own, before taking clients on tours, making sure they meet with the individual­s’ specificat­ions.

With new buyers, she is patient in waiting for them to be ready.

With sellers, Consalvo puts in the time to makes sure the house is market ready and listens to clients to understand their goals in order to find the right buyer.

Consalvo, who is married with four adult children, has lived Brookfield since 1988. She enjoys boating on the lake, going to restaurant­s and traveling with her family.
