Former teacher turned Newtown Realtor loves helping first-time buyers

- Lauren Auresto

ARealtor since 2012, Lauren Auresto has a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications from the University of Texas in Austin and a master’s in secondary education from Fordham University.

Prior to launching a career in real estate, she was in advertising and marketing for Unilever Brands, working on campaigns for Dove soap. After she received her master’s degree, she taught high school social studies for five years in Manhattan.

When she had her first son, she took a break from teaching and soon after went into real estate and primarily serves greater Danbury.

“When I was in advertising and marketing we were always trying to position the advertising to the right audience,” she said explaining that she now works to target listings to the right audience.

She relies on her teaching abilities to coach first time buyers through the process, patiently breaking it down step by step.

“I’m very patient and I feel like I’m a very good listener,” she said. “It’s important not only when you’re selling a home but when you’re buying a home to make sure you have a Realtor who listens to your needs.”

When working with buyers, she takes them on a tour of the area.

“I love helping people get a sense of what the town is so they can figure out that town is right for them,” she said.

With sellers, she brings them to see similar properties or shows them statistics Business: Coldwell Banker Around the Town Team

of similar properties so they can see what’s out there to scope out the competition and get them familiar with the market.

First-time buyers are her favorite thing. “It’s really great to find the perfect match for the first time home buyers that maybe didn’t think we were ever going to find a really great house and we looked and we looked,” she said. “It’s always nice to hand the key over.”

Auresto has been married for seven years and has two children. They enjoy spending time outside and traveling and visiting her family farm in Litchfield.
