BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. — Kyle McKinnon ran for two touchdowns and David James connected with Austin Calamita on a touchdown pass as the Western Connecticu­t State University football team remained undefeated with a 23-13 victory at Massachuse­tts Maritime Academy on Saturday.

McKinnon rushed for 122 yards on 26 carries for WestConn (7-0, 4-0 MASCAC), while James completed 15 of 30 passes for 201 yards. Calamita caught six passes for 111 yards, while Lucas DeSouza caught six passes for 68 yards. Derek Jones led the WestConn defense with 10 tackles.

“We knew going in to the game that it would be highly competitiv­e game based on how they play us every year,” WestConn coach Joe Loth said in a press release.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

DANBURY — WestConn split two matches, falling to Little East Conference rival Keene State, 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22), before beating non-league foe Potsdam, 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16). Nicolina Chenard tallied 14 kills for WestConn (12-9, 2-3 LEC) against Keene State. Kamari King recorded a match-high 21 kills against Potsdam.

FIELD HOCKEY

SALEM, Mass. — Kimberly Brower and Morgan Matthews each scored two goals as WestConn defeated Little East foe Salem State 6-1. WestConn scored five unanswered goals in the second half in snapping its losing streak at two games.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

DANBURY — Bailey McCollum scored off a free kick from 43 yards out to lift the Colonials to a 1-0 victory over Little East Conference opponent Keene State.

MEN’S SOCCER

KEENE, N.H. — WestConn dropped a 1-0 decision against Little East rival Keene State. .
