ARealtor since 2003, Patty McManus became a broker in 2005 and is an associate broker of the Danbury William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty brokerage. She was President of Northern Fairfield County Association of Realtors in 2017 and Realtor of the Year for 2018

McManus worked for the town attorney in her hometown and then went on to work for several real estate law firms for the next 15 years.

In that career, she honed nearly all the skills she uses today to keep her real estate business booming.

“It was invaluable the experience that I gained,” she said. “I learned everything there really.”

When she moved to Connecticut from New York, she decided to jump into real estate, something she had wanted to do for a long time.

“I just was always interested in it,” she said. “I read the transfer section of the newspaper, looked to see what was available and was always drawn to it for some reason.”

She gets her edge from plain and simple hard work.

“I think it’s pretty apparent when I first start working with someone that I’m going to take care of them and make sure they get what they need,” she said. “It’s not just a job. I want them happy I want them to have everything they want.”

The need for compromise notwithstanding, McManus works to get her buyer clients as much as possible with what they have to spend. She begins the process with a wish list and works from

there to achieve the best possible result.

McManus, who serves Northern Fairfield and Litchfield Counties, enjoys watching clients check out their new digs.

“Seeing someone — a buyer — at the final walkthrough when they’re just about to close on a new house” is the most rewarding thing, she said.

For her seller clients, McManus uses professional photography. In marketing the property, she makes sure the description presents it in the best possible light.

“I try to really hone in on the special features of each property,” she said.

McManus is married with two adult children and enjoys gardening, though admits in the past few years hobbies have fallen by the wayside.
