Ida (Tranquillo) Mirkovich passed away peacefully at Pope John Paul surrounded by her family Friday afternoon, October 12, 2018. She was 91 years of age.

Ida was born in New Rochelle, NY on August 24, 1927; the daughter of the late Benjamin Tranquillo and Anastasia Mercurio. She lived in NY before she began on her journey of travelling the world. Ida was always very unique and a special woman; she knew she wanted to travel and create her own beautiful experience­s. She saw many countries, learned multiple languages, and created artwork and paintings from her destinatio­ns.

During her travels, Ida met her soulmate Nicholas on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy in 1965. Nicholas immediatel­y fell in love and knew Ida was the woman he would spend his life with. They were married in Bremen, Germany on Nov. 15, 1965. After moving to NY in 1966 they started their family. Ida and Nicholas have two daughters, Alexandra and Stacy. Ida was the most amazing and caring mother who loved being with her husband and children.

Aside from being a wonderful mother and wife, she was an amazing artist who continued her work until just a few years ago. She taught her granddaugh­ter how to paint and create beautiful artwork; some of their best memories together were spent in Ida’s art classes. She also worked at Pepperidge Farms until she retired where she created many relationsh­ips and spread her beautiful personalit­y to others.

Ida is pre-deceased by her parents; her sister, Anastasia; her brother, Thomas; her nieces, Toni-Ann and June.

Ida is survived by her loving husband, Nicholas Mirkovich; her daughters, Alexandra (Mirkovich) Geanuracos and Stacy Mirkovich; her granddaugh­ter, Nicole Peralta; a great grandson, Caleb Peralta; her sisters, Clara Semenza and Diana Storino. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Ida will be incredibly missed and her beautiful soul will forever leave an impression on this earth.

The Mirkovich Family will be receiving friends and family from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. Burial follows in Mt. View Cemetery, New Fairfield, CT.
